G51jx Pixel Madness!!!! =(

Hello,



My friend bought a G51jx laptop a few days ago and he's got a wierd pixel problem... His desktop sometimes "pixels up" when he opens a window. Aparently it started happening after he installed Mass Effect 2 and it's respective directx.

Any thoughts on this? Would really apreciate it.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean, but you can try installing a new nvidia driver first.

I mean that a bunch of white pixels just appear on screen and yes we've tried that but to no avail

The card isn't overclocked at all is it?

Nope, it's a brand new pc!

Just because it's brand new doesn't mean it's not overclocked.



Hm, ok. So you've installed a newer version of NVIDIA drivers and that didn't help. Have you tried an older version?



Have you tried downloading the latest directx runtime installer from microsoft?



For good measure run a disk check too. Some windows file could be corrupted.

No but seriously, I've tried all that. Also I've just formated and it is still the same



And no the graphic card is not overclocked

If you get the white dots, hit print screen and then paste into mspaint. Do the artifacts show up the same in the image itself? If they do you likely have a problem with the VRAM on the graphics card.



If not, try an external monitor. If the external monitor is fine, check the LVDS cable which is accessible under the left hand hinge cover (see the g50 disassembly guide linked in the sticky). Close the lid and pinch the hinge cover and pull it off, then press down on the LVDS connector to make sure it is well connected.

Well the paint stuff is like you said. It doesnt show them white pixels. Also he's just gonna get a new one. Since this one isn't working.

Probably a problem with the display cable then or the LCD itself, hard to tell. Good luck.
