fried U50f motherboard help

In early January I bought a U50f from newegg.com. About a month ago, I believe my laptop had some sort of short and confirmed by Geek Squad that the motherboard is done. And I have been looking all over for a Service Guide to help me take apart the laptop so I can replace the motherboard properly. I just spent like $500 to buy and i really like this thing, plus its the only thing I can afford right now for school.

So if someone can help with this, I would really appreciate it A LOT! Thanks uys!

Did you buy it refurbished? If you bought it new and non-refurbished it should still be under warranty. See: Asus RMA and Warranty Guide

Disassembly looks pretty straightforward for the bottom chassis. Take the screws off and then probably eject the CD tray (sometimes there are screws where the optical drive is) and the SD card blank if you have one. Then take the keyboard off and remove the remaining screws that are holding the top case to the chassis. It looks a lot like the U80V which I have partially disassembled before and also the U20 which I have fully disassembled a few times. I don't know of a disassembly guide for yours.

Go slow and get/draw a placement map so you can remember which screws go where.

ok so i started to take everything apart and realized that the keyboard is attached to the top piece of the laptop, there is no way of removing it, it is all one piece, except for the bezel which you can see on the side.

Issue#1: right next to the back screw for the dvd drive and the RAM, is this piece that has no opening and as i pry the top piece of the laptop open, it feels like this is holding it back. and since its all one piece i have no idea how to remove it.

Issue#2: the second thing that is holding me back from removing the top piece is shown the picture. it feels like a screw is holding it down but i have no idea where or how i can get to it.

This should hopefully help: How to Install an Asus U50F Keyboard | eHow.com

Sounds like there are screws underneath where the bezel was.

thanks namaiki, the post is actually wrong.

after reading it, i found no screws just 2 that hold down the top piece to the motherboard. on step 3, i looked everywhere on the laptop and found absolutely no screws. then my finger slipped by accident and actually pushed out the keyboard partially. and slowly removed it like the bezel and it pretty much straight forward from to switch out the motherboard. now i just gotta buy it and hope for the best.

There should be a small hole that you can stick a small flathead into in order to push the optical drive out by a small metal tab.
