WLAN problem with Vaio

Hey guys, i hope you can help me im 22 and stepfather has this stupid k9 protection shit on this computer and im desperate to get back on my own vaio.

So heres the jest, My sony VAIO has WLAN slide button on the outside of the laptop.
I was having to tape it to keep it on for months now.
But it quit on me altogether yesterday.
I need to know if i can manually turn it on.
Its 5years old and it does not have SMARTWI.
