Benchmark Programs - HDD/SSD

What benchmark programs do people recommend, in particular for HDD/SSD? I have seen many screen shots but cannot determine which one the majority of people are using.
I mostly want to do it as I know every once in a while a drive fails, and I would like to test that out while it is still new and returnable .
